Bournemouth Development Company’s latest scheme, the £12 million Treetops development, was recently completed offering an innovative collection of 46, high-quality homes for rent in a convenient town-center location.

Treetops-External-,Cred.-Terence-O'RourkeCompleted in February 2021, the Treetops development, located in Bournemouth town centre, offers one, two and three-bedroom homes that will help to create a vibrant community in the heart of the seaside town.

Bournemouth Development Company (BDC) is a 50:50 partnership between BCP Council and national urban regenerator Muse Developments, a Morgan Sindall Group company. It was established in 2011 to help regenerate Bournemouth town centre.

Treetops is BDC’s latest development, which as well as providing high-quality, contemporary homes for local families, will also return profits back to BCP Council for investment in future regeneration projects – two of the main aims of the BDC partnership.

The development will be owned and operated by the council’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Seascape Homes & Property. In keeping with BDC’s aims to support the local economy, local company Parsons & Joyce was the main contractor for the scheme.

Having attracted high levels of interest and with over 50% of apartments reserved prior to completion, Treetops is now starting to welcome new residents following its completion in line with government Covid-19 guidelines.

BDC has also recently broken ground on the next stage of its wider masterplan, a 44-apartment development to the west of Bournemouth’s town centre on Durley Road, due for completion in 2022.

Commenting on the completion of Treetops, Anna Lindfield, development manager at Muse, said: “We’re proud to have completed another successful BDC scheme safely and in line with government guidelines, despite the challenging times we’re in. We’re committed to repurposing under-used and unloved sites in partnership to benefit communities. Together with BCP Council, we’ve transformed this scheme into a series of stunning homes, driving local economic growth and creating a wealth of opportunities and prosperity at a time when it’s needed most.”

Councillor Phillip Broadhead, portfolio holder for regeneration, economy and strategic planning at BCP Council said: “The completion of this partnership development is great news for BCP Council, and is another step towards regenerating the town centre, while also delivering funds back to the council for future projects.”

Councillor Bob Lawton, portfolio holder for homes at BCP Council said: “We’re delighted to be delivering these high-quality homes in such a central, convenient location. Town centre living, with all the amenities that brings as well as the proximity to the seafront make these a superb choice for so many people.”

BCP Council purchased Treetops from BDC as a long-term investment asset. The homes are being operated as a private-sector rental scheme via the council’s wholly-owned services company Seascape Homes & Property under a 25-year lease.
